Advantages:

Lovely fine detailed weapons set, for those who like to improve the look of their MiG’s and SU’s

Disadvantages:

No painting guide or what some of the, options, entail.

Conclusion:

These are great ways to super detail your aircraft.

Packaging

This Brassin set comes in a cardboard box, the resin and Photo Etch (PE) are packed in zip lock bags, and additional padding is with small foam blocks.

I’ve included in this review images of the Brassin set and the Academy plastic that the Brassin could be used to replace.

 

 

As you can see the Resin and PE provide finer detail on the fins and body of the missiles. This is a very simply replacement of the kit parts and will greatly improve the look of your MiG/Su for minimal effort.

 

 

Now what’s the difference between the APU and AKU pylons? You will generally find the APU-470 pylons fitted to the wings of aircraft that carried the 10 Alpha’s, while the AKU-470 is found on fuselage mountings. While not a big issue in 1/48, there are minor variations in the AKU-470 pylon depending upon its location; for example in the Flanker family, the engine mounted AKU’s are slightly different to the centreline fore and aft AKU’s, which are also different. So, on a Flanker there are three types of AKU 470 pylons fitted. Check your references for the variations if you feel the need to make the slight adjustments required.

This Brassin set also gives you the options of fitting the environmental covers to the seeker (resin) and proximity sensors (PE). Of note in the instructions are several PE items listed at ,?, optional, now some of these look like remove before flight tags but in all the references that I looked at I could not see these items in any images. Again good references will help here.

I do wish that Eduard would provide painting guides…especially since weapons generally stay in the same condition as manufactured. It would be nice to have a painting reference for both live and inert weapons as is available for most Western missiles.

 

 

Conclusion

 

All in all these Brassin sets will add an amazing level of detail to your MiGs or Sus.
