Caracal Decals has produced a fine quality decal sheet depicting seven schemes for General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper Unmanned Aeronautical Vehicles (UAV).  The decals are recommended for the 1/48 scale Skunkmodels Workshop MQ-9 Reaper kit.

The decals are superbly printed by Microscale and they have good colour saturation and are in perfect register.  As usual with Microscale decals the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with their decals in the past has been that the decals will snuggle down into the surface detail well.  The carrier film then almost totally disappears under a coat of clear.

 

 

The scheme provided for the seven aircraft are as follows

  1. General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper “Ikhana” serial number 870 used by NASA based at NASA’s Dryden Lake facility in 2007.  The aircraft is finished in overall FS17925 White.

  2. General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper serial number ZZ203 used by 39 Sqn RAF based in Afghanistan in 2007.  The aircraft is finished in FS36375 upper surfaces and FS36176 lower surfaces.

  3. General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper serial number 05-0011 used by 42nd Attack Sqn based at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada in 2007.  The aircraft is finished in FS36375 upper surfaces and FS36176 lower surfaces.

  4. General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper serial number 05-0016 used by 42nd Attack Sqn based in Afghanistan in 2008.  The aircraft is finished in FS36375 upper surfaces and FS36176 lower surfaces.  This aircraft has Hellfire missile silhouettes painted on the side for missiles fired.

  5. General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper serial number 05-0018 used by 42nd Attack Sqn.  The aircraft is finished in FS36375 upper surfaces and FS36176 lower surfaces.

  6. General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper serial number 05-0038 used by 174th Wing based at Hancock Field near Syracuse NY.

  7. General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper serial number 05-0053 used by 29th Attack Sqn based at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.  The aircraft is finished in FS36375 upper surfaces and FS36176 lower surfaces.
