Description

This is the end of the line of my Messerschmitt 262 models that I consider my all time favourite model. The model is highly detailed yet, it is complex to build and requires a substantial amount of scratch work to enhance its authentic look. In addition, the 25 years old moulds make the seems almost impossible to hide, unless you are prepared to take the risk to end in a mental institution.

In all the 3 models presented here I was forced to make educated guesses about the applied camouflage patterns because references about the particular aircraft that these models represent is inadequate. Photographs of the "484" bomber version show a heavy and dark application of probably RLM 81, like "555" that was clearly not the original paintwork. I assumed that beforehand the aircraft was painted with the old 74/75 pattern.

The night fighter stands for "Red 11" that existed, but no photographs of the aircraft survived.

Similarly, I painted the reconnaissance version with the common pattern applied to this aircraft type. I used left over parts from the Cutting Edge set that had camera bay covers, but had to scratch make camera rectangular windows.
