Model Alliance continues with their decal line depicting US Coast Guard Sikorsky JayHawk and Pelican schemes in 1/72 scale MAS-72186 and 1/48 MAS-8186.
The decals are designed for the various 1/72 and 1/48 scale kits but all kits will require some modification to depict the aircraft featured on this sheet. Model Alliance lists the recommended kit and the various conversion sets required to complete the modifications. The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and register. As usual the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with Model Alliance Decals in the past has been that the decals will snuggle down into the surface detail well. The carrier film almost totally disappears.
All the data decals are provided along with markings for 5 JayHawks and 4 Pelicans as detailed below:
-
Sikorsky H/MH-60J JayHawk Serial No 6009 based at Elizabeth City Nth Carolina in Sept 2008, 6008 based at Astoria Oregon in Oct 2005, 6010 Aviation Training Centre Mobile Alabama in Sept 2007, 6001 based at Cape Cod Massachusetts in May 2005, and 6012 based at Kodiak Alaska in April 2006. All aircraft are painted overall FS 17875 White with FS 12197 International Orange nose and tail and a mid fuselage band.
-
Sikorsky HH-3F Pelican Serial No 1431 based at Traverse City Michigan in June 1988, 1476 based at Borinquen Puerto Rico in 1984, 1497 San Diego California in March 1985, 1467 based at Aviation Training Centre Mobile Alabama in the 1970s. All aircraft are painted overall FS 17875 White with FS 12197 International Orange nose and tail and a mid fuselage band.
