This is another excellent decal sheet produced by Dutch Decals in 1/48 Scale depicting Royal Netherland Navy Hawker Seahawk, Hawker Hunter F.4/6, Fairey Swordfish and LSK Fw.56 Stosser.

The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and excellent register.  As usual the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with Dutch Decals that I have used in the past is that the decals will snuggle down into the surface detail well.  I always use decal setting solution.  The carrier film then almost totally disappears under a coat of clear.

The decals provided for the aircraft are as follows;

  • Hawker Hunter F.4 N-113of No 325 Sqn based at Leeuwarden Air Base in 1955.  The aircraft is finished in Zeegrijs (Sea Grey) and Donkergroen (Dark Green) upper surfaces and either Silver or Grijs Anodiseer (Medium Sea Grey) lower surfaces.

  • Hawker Hunter F.6 N-283of No 234 Sqn based at Leeuwarden Air Base in 1964.  The aircraft is finished in Zeegrijs (Sea Grey) and Donkergroen (Dark Green) upper surfaces and either Silver or Grijs Anodiseer (Medium Sea Grey) lower surfaces.

  • Hawker Hunter F.6 N-202of No 325 Sqn based at Soesterberg Air Base in 1968.  The aircraft is finished in Zeegrijs (Sea Grey) and Donkergroen (Dark Green) upper surfaces and either Silver or Grijs Anodiseer (Medium Sea Grey) lower surfaces.

  • Hawker Hunter F.6 N-213of No 326 Sqn based at Soesterberg Air Base in 1960.  The aircraft is finished in Zeegrijs (Sea Grey) and Donkergroen (Dark Green) upper surfaces and either Silver or Grijs Anodiseer (Medium Sea Grey) lower surfaces.

  • Hawker Seahawk FGA.50 Serial No F-51of No 860 Sqn based at Valkenberg Air Base in 1957.  The aircraft is finished in Extra Dark Sea Grey upper surfaces and Sky lower surfaces.

  • Hawker Seahawk FGA.50 Serial Number 111 of No 860 Sqn based at Valkenberg Air Base in 1957.  The aircraft is finished in Extra Dark Sea Grey upper surfaces and Sky lower surfaces.

  • Hawker Seahawk FGA.50 Serial Number 122 of No 860 Sqn based on HMS Karel Doorman in 1962.  The aircraft is finished in Extra Dark Sea Grey upper surfaces and Sky lower surfaces.

  • Fairey Swordfish Mk.II Serial Number O3 of No 860 Sqn FAA based on MAC Ship MV Acavus in 1944.  The aircraft is finished in Extra Dark Sea Grey and Dark Slate Grey upper surfaces and White lower surfaces and fuselage sides.

  • Focke Wulf FW.56 Stosser LSKIII based at Twenthe Air Base in 1947.  The aircraft is finished in overall RLM 63 or 02.  Markings can be either the early Dutch orange triangle markings or the later Dutch tri-colour roundels.

Thanks to Dutch Decals for the samples
