Maestro Models have produced two more beautifully cast but simple addition sets for improving the Airfix/Esci SAAB 37 Viggen. The old Airfix/Esci kit was first produced over 30 years ago under the Esci label before being re-released by Airfix in the last 10 years and still remains the only kit on the market in 1/48 scale. The kit suffers from raised panel lines and is very much lacking in detail in the cockpit, wheel wells and engine exhaust areas and has blanked off engine intakes approximately 15mm down the intakes. Fortunately earlier releases by Maestro Models have corrected most of the issues with the kit.
K4826 1/48 SAAB 37 Viggen Main and Nose Wheels
This set is a vast improvement over the kit parts. The replacement wheels are designed as a straight replacement but the main wheels have some extensive etched metal build up to replicate the disc brake assembly and the brake units. The cast hub detail is much crisper and far superior to the original kit wheel detail.
This is another excellent kit from Maestro Models and only a moderate level of modelling experience is required for installation
K4828 1/48 FFV Aden Gun Pods for SAAB JA37 Viggen and SK60
This set is designed as a straight fit straight on to the kit wing pylon and requires very little work to install. The pod is normally carried on the inboard pylons and allows for more flexibility for the load out of the kit. The pods are crisply moulded and easily removed from the casting block.
This is another excellent update from Maestro Models. Only a basic level of modelling experience will required for installation.
