Here is Tamiya's 1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8/R2 finished as the mount of the Commander of IV.(Sturm) / JG 3 'Udet' , Hptm. Wilhelm Moritz.
The aircraft was based at Memmingen, June, 1944. Moritz accumulated a total of over 500 combat flights over the Eastern and Western Fronts, and achived 44 victories. He was awarded the Knight's Cross and was among the most succesful of fighter unit commanders tasked with confronting four engined heavy bombers.
The Eduard photo-etched was set used for cockpit and some exterior parts.
The top machine guns were removed and opened the holes as shown in references.
My model painted with Gunze arcylics RLM 74, 75 and 76. I added some 74 to 75 for obtain contrast between two colors. The engine cowl color was in all references dark blue for most Udet FW 190s. That color obtained by Tamiya Semi Gloss Black mixed with some Royal Blue.
I added hint of white to gloss varnish for color fading.
Decals are mixed, Aeromaster stencil, Sky decal and Eagle Cal decals were used. Uppersurface insignas, white outline of black sides of exhausts area and rear wheel's white circle were airbrushed.
The aircraft weathered with highly thinned humbrol enamels brown and black. The final coat was Humbrol Matt Cote.
