Master modeller and author Maurizio Di Terlizzi launched his own brand of resin kits called "Tail Boom" in 2007. His earliest releases were helicopter related but his last product was a radical departure - a full-sized Revi 16B gunsight.

Tail Boom's newest release is along similar lines - a 1/1 scale control column for many mid to late war Luftwaffe fighters including the Messerschmitt Bf 109 G, Me 262 and Focke-Wulf Fw 190.

The kit comes packed in a white cardboard box.

25 parts are provided in grey coloured resin. a werknummer plate is provided in thin metal, and another metal part represents the stays for the electrical cabling. The kit is rounded out with a length of elecrical cable.

The parts have been cast directly from a genuine wartime control column. There are no casting imperfections on my sample.

The resin parts will require only minimal cleanup before assembly.

Assembly should be quite straightforward after cleanup. Probably the most challenging aspect will be drilling and folding the flat piece of metal to hold the electrical cables.

Instructions are provided on a folded A4 sheet, which includes full colour diagrams of the parts and of the completed gunsight. Helpful notes and a colour guide are also offered.

Conclusion

Tail Boom's full scale Luftwaffe control stick is a beautifully detailed and flawlessly cast kit of this important piece of equipment

With its relatively small parts breakdown and simple assembly process should mean a fast and easy build. There is no doubt that when the model is finished it will present many display opportunities and will be a real head-turner. It will be a perfect companion to Tail Boom's earlier Revi 16 gunsight too.

If you want one, though, you'd better be quick. This will be a strictly limited production item. You can contact Maurizio direct to obtain details about pricing, availability and postage.

Great stuff.

Thanks to Maurizio Di Terlizzi for the review sample.
