Description

The B-17 was the most bomber famous of all time conducting operations over Europe and Asia, mainly focusing on the German war industry in the Second World War.

Postwar, the B-17 performed several roles including aerial photo and SAR services in various countries. The designation of these aircraft was B-17H or SB-17G.

12 planes received postwar by the Brazilian Air Force,

My model represents number 5400, which was the first B-17H in Brazilian Air Force service. This was originally a USAAF B-17G-90-DL manufactured by Douglas.

This is Academy's 1/72 scale B-17G converted to the postwar B-17H by removing the dorsal and ventral turrets and the weapons.

Painting used for the Brazilian Air Force was virtually the same as the USAF for the B-17H. Overall in Aluminum - FS 17178 with little parts in Dark Yellow - FS 23637 and Black - FS 37038. Rudder in Green - FS 14062 and Yellow - FS 13538.
