Two Mikes Resin has released a set of replacement seamless intakes for the Airfix / Heller 1/48 scale family of Jaguar kits. These will be suitable for the British GR.1, GR.3, GR.3A or French Jaguar A variants.
The configuration of the Airfix / Heller blow-in doors is inappropriate for a Jaguar at rest. Two Mikes Resin's replacement intakes address this issue.
Two Mikes's 1/48 scale Jaguar intake set comrpises two parts cast in dark grey resin plus a small decal sheet. Each of the intakes is cast as one piece. Casting quality is very high with no imperfections apparent on my sample. Recessed detail for the blow-in doors and the rim is crisp and consistent.
The intakes are cast onto a single block with a significant undercut which should make it easy to remove the parts. A razor saw will be the best tool for this job. Once the parts are removed, they should be a simple drop-fit replacement for the kit parts. The instructions advise that some levelling of the right intake shoulder will be required to blend in the resin part.
As the intakes of full-sized Jaguar's appear to be dark grey, the colour of the resin will be helpful!
A small decal sheet offers markings to represent blow-in door hinges.
Instructions are supplied in full colour with photographic reference on a single letter-sized sheet.
Two Mikes Resin's 1/48 scale seamless intakes will be a very welcome accessory to anyone building the Airfix or Heller Jaguar kits.
