P-51B Mustang

Tamiya's 1/48 scale P-51B Mustang is available online from Squadron

Introduction

This is Tamiya's 1/48 P-51B Mustang.

Though released back in 1990s, it is still one of the best Mustangs in any scale. I personally reckon Tamiya's kit is superior to Accurate Miniatures' B version in some respects.

The kit is built almost straight from the box with only minor modifications in the cockpit area, and the result is more than pleasing.

The only drawback is perhaps the decal. AeroMaster's InvisaClear decal is thin and good in register but the red colour seems a bit too dark on my sample.

Gunze Lacquer paint applied with the Aztec A470 airbrush is used through out.

After projects involving seemingly endless scratch building and detailing, I really enjoyed building such a Mustang that you can enjoy the pure fun of modeling!
