Classic Airframes' 1/48 scale Venom FB.1  is avaiable online from Squadron

Introduction

For a detailed examination of the contents of Classic Airframes' 1/48 scale Venom, see the in-box review elsewhere on HyperScale.

Here is my Classic Airframes Venom FB1. I won't go into the same areas that Brett went into because his review was excellent and was a great help to me in building mine.

This is not a rehash of the Vampire and as far as I can tell. It is a completely new kit. It still has a fair amount of resin and the decals are excellent.

Construction

Let's just jump right into the problem areas.

Take care in fitting the instrument panel. Instead of cutting a channel in the fuselage halves as Brett did, I trimmed the edges of my panel but the gun sight interfered with the attachment of the windscreen.

Also, my horizontal stabilizer was too wide to fit between the booms. I double checked the alignment of the booms and I got'em straight and even but the stabilizer would not fit. I trimmed a little from both side and then had to use some filler to get an acceptable joint.

I also had a sizeable gap around the resin intakes. This was not not a big deal and little super glue and sanding fixed this quickly.

Everything else went much better the Vampire. The booms fit to the wings much better and it seems like there is a little more detail to this kit.

Conclusion

I must say that the Venom has much more character to me than the Vampire.

I know that I'll build the FB. Mk. 4 soon, so stayed tuned Sports Fans!
