Revell's 1/72 scale Lockheed P-3C Orion is available online from Squadron

Description

This is Revell’s re-boxing of Hasegawa’s P-3C Orion that I finished this spring. Although old, the kit features a very good fit.

Unfortunately, Revell did not include some necessary parts to fit at least some of the included decals; in my case the CUP (capabilities upkeep program) version, in use with the German Marineflieger since 2006. These were bought from the Netherlands that sold all their Orions without any replacement.

The aircraft received the above mentioned update by Lockheed-Martin shortly before they were all sold. The attractive color scheme of Extra Dark Sea Gray over Sky was also changed to FS 16440 Light Gull Gray over all.

My model is one of eight German P-3s based at Nordholz in northern Germany replacing the Breguet Atlantic.

In order to achieve a correct CUP version, several external devices need to be added – according to the image below.

The model of course has raised panel lines that were rescribed completely and in addition to the above improvements only some minor detailing was added – such as static dischargers or some items missing on the landing gear.
